Murron O’Neill
LSCW & Founder
Murron (mare-in) is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maine. Murron has significant experience working with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety, trauma, and those who are members of the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities.
Through their experience, they have become adept at using both Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) as a resource in helping people face their fears in service of becoming the person they would most like to be. Murron also combines ACT and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) in conjunction with those modalities for those with comorbid trauma- and anxiety-related symptoms.
Murron enjoys having a sense of humor in sessions and integrating a person’s whole self in sessions, not just their symptoms. Above all else, Murron respects each client's personal autonomy and self-determination. They are not here to set goals for you, but instead wish to act as a resource and guide to you achieving your own.
In their spare time, Murron enjoys reading, yoga, hiking with their dogs, going to concerts of all music varieties, and planning their next tattoo.
Murron completed their undergraduate program in Psychology and Gender and Women’s Studies at the University of Rhode Island and graduated with their MSW and a minor in macro social work practice at Boston University.
Murron has significant experience working with anxiety and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), beginning their training in 2018 at McLean Hospital's OCDI Jr and later a behavior specialist at CBTeam. They began a graduate internship at the New England Center for OCD and Anxiety, providing individual therapy across the lifespan and working with intensive cases in the Intensive Outpatient Program.
Murron later joined Compassionate Healing, a trauma-focused practice, to gain experience in working with those impacted by trauma and develop a specialization in working with those dealing with symptoms that overlapped with both trauma and OCD/anxiety. Murron was later promoted to Clinical Director of the practice.
During their time at these practices, Murron received training in neurodiversity-affirming care and executive functioning coaching to make therapeutic approaches more accessible to those with ADHD, Autism, or other neurodiversities.
Murron has worked in a variety of settings, including: inpatient, residential, community-based, school, and in-home settings, with clients of all ages and backgrounds.
